A few years ago we went for a holiday to Gran Canaria, with my sons. And they were just in the perfect age to enjoy the nightlife.

On Gran Canaria nightlife goes up to sunrise. Mostly they came home when we went for breakfast…

There are lots of Bars, Dancings, Nightclubs and so on…..

But first we always went for a delicious dinner in one of the many restaurants.. and what we get there was always very very fine.

This pictures are taken after Dinner …. before the elderly ones go to bed. And the younger ones go to ………… nightlife on Gran Canaria ;) ;)

El Hierro

El Hierro is the smallest Island of the Canaries, and not very touristic. It is on the westside of Canary Islands.

The capital city is Valverde, but if you call it city it’s just a bit a exaggeration.  Because in Valverde live about 1800 people, not very much. The highest point is the Pico de Malpaso on 1500m. The coast is about 100 km, but most of it are steep coast.

So El Hierro is not really the right place for people who like to be on the beach. There is also not very much to do in the evening…. no nightlife :)

El Hierro is just the right choice for people who look for a very quiet place… who wants to rest. El Hierro also is a good place for everyone who likes walking :) There are lots of footpaths..

La Gomera

La Gomera is the second smallest Islands of the Canaries. It has just a diameter from 25 km… and lies between Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro in the middle.

The capital city is San Sebastin, here live about 5000 people.

La Gomera has a airport, near Playa de Santiago, but as the runway is just 1500 m, there are only national flights landing here.

La Gomera is not very touristic, has not many beaches …. but it is very famous by all the tourists who like the nature and go walking….. who like to be in a quiet area.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote lies in the northeast of the Canaries.

The capital city is Arrecife, here you can find a very nice beach Playa del Reducto, which is about 500m long with white sand and palms. A Hotel with every modern comfort is the Arrecife Gran Hotel (it can be found on the Internet). The airport is just 6 km away from Arrecife.

People who look for an Island with lots of beaches and also very nice landscape…. Lanzarote is a good choice. Here you can go walking in the morning and swimming in the afternoon, however you like … do it :)

And if you later are thirsty, outside of the park, just a few steps away you can find the restaurant “Meme”…. go there and have a glass of wine. And if you would like to try the very best ham of Spain… order a “ración of jamón iberico”. By Meme you will get the best one :) :)

As I have heard on TV last weekend, Frank Duval lives on La Palma.

Frank Duval is a very popular musician, and he belongs to the most famous ones in Germany.

As we have heard that he and his wife Kalina Maloyer live also here, we started looking for them on the Internet. And what we found is so great, that I also would like to tell you. There is a foundation, the Foundation Frank Duval.

www.foundationfrankduval.org

If you also would like to do something against Child labor and poverty, please go and have a look on this site.

And to be honest, we all have enough to give some Euros or Dollars to help others.

If lots of people give just a bit, it can change so much :)

If you ever stay on La Gomera, surely you also will visit the famous Nationalpark Garajonay, el Parque Nacional de Garajonay. The name comes from the highest mountain of La Gomera: Garajonay, with 1487 m the highest point of this Island.

Here you can find the wood, El Bosque del Cedro ….. which means cedar…. even if there are no cedars.

There are lots of misty days …. but that’s exactly the thing what makes the nationalpark so special. Here it’s like beeing in the middle of a fairyland. :) :)

There is also a nice picnic-area inside the nationalpark. Laguna Grande… but don’t go there on Sunday, because on Sunday it is very busy there, as it is very popular by the native… and so lots of familys with lots of children, Grandmother and Aunts and Uncles… and once more children…… are there. So if you have the choice, it’s better going to Laguna Grande for a picnic during the week. If you don’t like to have a picnic, there ist also a restaurant here.

Some rules for visiting the nationalpark Garajonay:

-It’s not allowed to take flowers with you

-It’s not allowed to sleep inside the park

-it’s not allowed to make fire outside of the picnic-areas

-And of course, take all the litter with you

Of course, I guess this things everyone knows already…. :)

Very popular is Playa del Ingles on Gran Canaria. It’s very touristic, but has also a nice beach with a very big dune. …. where you can go walking and walking and walking… :) Playa del Ingles is in the south of Gran Canaria, not far from the airport.

There are many restaurants and shopping-centers like “Yumbo” and “Kasbah” in Playa del Ingles…. and very near is the go-kart :) :)

It has lots of Hotels here. Cheap hotels and of course also very expensive ones.

Here some tipps for a nice hotel:

Hotel Seaside Sandy Beach ****, near the beach

Hotel IFA Dunamar ****, near the beach

Hotel Neptuno ****, about 900m to the beach

Hotel Buenaventura ***, about 900m to the beach

……. and there are many many more good hotels on Playa del Ingles
