Airport of La Palma

The airport of La Palma is a bit in the south of Santa Cruz de La Palma. Just a frew minutes away.

Here are some facts about it:

The airport was opened at the 15. April 1970

It lies on 29 Meters over Sea

The runway is:  2200 Meter long and 45 Meter wide

IATA-Code:   SPC

ICAO-Code:   GCLA

Passengers per year (2005):    1′146′000

At the moment they are working at the airport as it will be enlarged.

If you would like to come to Lanzarote and spend your time in a very nice country house… here my tip: http://www.suerte-lanzarote.de/english.html

Finca Suerte has two bedrooms, exactly the perfect size. Even if there are just two people or a small family the house is just perfect. … And the view you will have there is very beautiful… :)

Finca Suerte also lies in a good position for trips all around Lanzarote and for going to the beach.

So if you are looking for a house on Lanzarote, for shortterm oder longterm, have a look at the Finca Suerte….. it’s really worth it.

Santa Cruz de La Palma

The capital city of La Palma is Santa Cruz de La Palma.

Santa Cruz de La Palma lies on the eastside of La Palma, near the airport and near Los Cancajos where are some nice Hotels.

In Santa Cruz live about 20′000 people. The oldtown is really quiet, no cars and lots of small shops, so a bit walking around and shopping is quite nice. There are also some objects of interest like churches and museum…. or the marketplace where you can buy fresh food every morning.

If you would like to go for a walk in Santa Cruz, it’s a good idea to start by the postoffice, and there turn to the Calle O’Daly, when you come to the Avenida del Puente, turn left and go up to the covered market……

But don’t forget to be early, in the afternoon lots of shops will be closed :)

A day off

Today I take a day off….. as it is my birthday I guess I would do some things I really like to do like:

start the day with a coffee down by the sea ….. with a very fine Cappuccino :) :)

and later perhaps going for a walk with Ruedi and of course Sangria

and….. we will see what’s coming next

Puerto de la Cruz is the big city in the north of Tenerife. It lies next to the sea and has even a few very small beaches.

The oldtown is okay and there are some nice coffeeshops where you can sit and whatch the passengers go by.

Puerto de la Cruz is in my opinion a good place for a daytrip, but not for living there. I always liked to go there for shopping, a bit walking around …. and then go back home.

Tenerife - La Orotava

A very nice place to be in the north of Tenerife is … La Orotava

orotava-004-2-3.JPG

There is a very nice oldtown with lots of nice houses. La Orotava is very clean and it’s just a pleasure to be there and walk around.

If you come to Tenerife and stay in a Hotel in the south, you should go at least once for a day to La Orotava… it’s the nicest town of Tenerife :)

Weather 25. January

The weather on La Palma is today:

In the morning it was cloudy and rainy (just a little bit) but now it is

Sunny with just a few clouds and about 25° Celsius…..

Teide - Tenerife

Even if Tenerife is about 83 km away, today we have a wunderful view to the Teide.

dsc01758-4.JPG

It’s not every day the same…. sometimes we see it, sometimes we don’t see it, and sometimes we can see it as good as today.

But some people told us, that if you could see from La Palma the teide as good as today, the weather will change to the bad…….  :)

All the people who told us, that the weather will turn when you see the Teide that good…. they were right

At the moment it’s raining and raining…. as if it never would stop again :)

Still raining

Unfortunately it’s not going to be better…. no it’s going to be worse and worse

Since almost 24 hours it’s raining and on the roads there are big rocks which game down and I wouldn’t image how many will come down if it not stops raining soon

But I guess, on Tenerife it is worse, a friend who lives there, told us that parts of Santa Cruz the Tenerife are under water….
